On May 11th, the seventh national population census showed that the population aged 60 and above in China has reached 264 million, accounting for 18.7% of the total population. Among them, over ten million elderly people require comprehensive care.
In previous years, due to the relatively backward elderly care system in China compared to developed countries, many elderly care facilities and systems were relatively incomplete, and some elderly care institutions also faced problems such as high fees and low service levels. Only a small number of elderly people are able to stay in nursing homes (elderly apartments, nurseries), and in most places, it is difficult to find a single bed.
In the past two years, domestic elderly care institutions have developed rapidly. According to the 2020 Statistical Bulletin on the Development of Civil Affairs by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, as of the end of 2020, there were 329000 various elderly care institutions and facilities in China, an increase of 213000 compared to the end of 2015, and an expansion of 2.83 times in scale; The total number of nursing beds in elderly care institutions is 8.21 million, an increase of 1.483 million compared to the end of 2015. By 2025, the number of nursing beds in elderly care institutions nationwide will reach 55%.
In addition, after more than 5 years of practice, China has innovated and developed projects such as family elderly care beds and home aging renovation to solve the supply-demand contradiction in the elderly care market. But currently, the supply of China's elderly care industry is still unable to meet the needs of the elderly.
Intelligent elderly care products with high popularity in developed countries, such as intelligent nursing beds, transfer devices, electric wheelchairs, and various rehabilitation training aids, are rarely used in domestic elderly care institutions and households with disabled or partially disabled elderly people to improve their lives and reduce the workload of nursing staff.
In 2020, with the release of the "Catalogue of Smart Health and Elderly Care Products and Services Promotion" formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the National Health Commission, many innovative intelligent elderly care products entered the terminal elderly care market, providing better intelligent assistance for the rehabilitation training of disabled and partially disabled elderly people, and also providing intelligent elderly care for their daily lives.
